In this paper we present the design and validation of a novel fully embroidered meander dipole antenna-based sensor integrated into commercially available T-shirt for real-time breathing monitoring using technique based on chest well movement analysis. The is made silver-coated nylon thread. proposed antenna-sensor cotton placed middle human chest. was designed to operate at 2.4 GHz. sensing mechanism system resonant frequency shift induced by expansion displacement air volume in lungs during breathing. continuously measured Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) remote PC via LAN interface real-time. A program developed Matlab collect respiration data information host be able transfer with instrumentation over TCP/IP. measurements were carried out monitor female volunteer various positions (standing sitting) different patterns: eupnea (normal respiration), apnea (absence breathing), hypopnea (shallow breathing) hyperpnea (deep breathing). resonance 2.98 GHz, 3.2 GHz 2 standing position 2.84 2.95 2.15 sitting position, eupnea, hypopnea, respectively. area textile 45 × 4.87 mm2, reducing surface consumption significatively regard other reported breath wearable sensors health monitoring.
